Happy Birthday Ashlynn!

Today we visited the Menominee Logging Camp and Museum. It is the largest and most complete logging museum in the U.S. all buildings are original from the 1800's. The loggers were all native Americans and the harvesting of trees was done individually rather than enmasse with an eye to the future. They preserved the forest. Logging still goes on today. Almost 200 years and you would never know it. Amazing! All work is regulated by the tribal council. All animals were put in the barn at night. I never knew oxen were shod! The Menominee are world renowned for their forestry methods.

Lunch at the restaurant here. Laundry and cleaning. We move tomorrow.
