Started the day at the Spotsylvania County Museum. Lots of info about the area but not much focus on the Civil War. Next stop the Fredericksburg visitor center. Soooo much info we could only do half so we concentrated on Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville. Fredericksburg was 12-11-1862 to 12-13-1862 and was a confederate victory. 7 waves of union attacks were repelled by Stonewall Jacksons line in the sunken road. Chancellorsville was fought 4-27-1863 to 5-6-1863. Robert E. Lee won his greatest victory. 5-3-1863 was the bloodiest day of the war. Lee split his army in half, Jackson led his troops around to the union left flank and attacked. During the fighting Jackson was wounded and Jeb Stuart assumed command. He was able to drive Hooker back across the Rappahannock river. Jackson later died from his wounds. Finally got a good timeline of the battles:
