Today we visited Fort Folle Avoine. It is a restored fur trading post. Had the most terrific guide who explained living conditions, fur trading operation and general knowledge stuff. She is of French descent which only added to the overall experience. Learned so much! I never knew that yarrow leaves rubbed between your hands then on your skin works as insect repellent or that spaghum moss applied to a wound prevents infection and aids healing. Such great stuff. Also saw lots of pics and info on the logging industry. Had lunch at Amelia's, a little cafe in Danbury. Later we visited a local farm market and bought some things. Love to support local artisans.
