Visited Fort Trumball today. Right on the Thames river at New London. Initially constructed in 1777 for coastal defense during the revolution. Became the original site of the US Coast Guard Academy, the Merchant Marine Officers Training School and a testing ground for sonar systems. In 1781 the fort was captured by the British and Benedict Arnold. They then burned the town to the ground.

Another hot day but interesting stuff.
