Visited Williamsburg today and toured the Capitol. High court for felonies was held here. No court appointed attorneys-accused were on their own or paid for representation. All government position required: free,white,male,protestant,landowner of at least 25 acres. Little people had no say and no reps. House of Burgess was like Senate & House of Representatives. Patrick Henry and James Madison were members and helped to repeal stamp tax and tea tax and were then part of the revolution. Tin Smith next. The "glass" used back then was cow horn. It grows in layers and after boiling can be split and peeled into sheets. Who knew! And it is unbreakable. Then show/trouser maker and printer. Lastly the stocks. Learned a lot today.
